CEM Participates in the International Test Commission (ITC) Conference 2026

CEM Participates in the International Test Commission (ITC) Conference 2026

CEM participated in the International Test Commission (ITC) Conference 2026, held from June 30 to July 3, 2026 at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Centered on the theme, "Testing for Good: Using Tests to Benefit Individuals and Society," the conference brought together leading researchers, psychometricians, assessment practitioners, and testing organizations from across the globe to discuss emerging trends, innovations, and best practices in educational and psychological assessment.

Representing CEM at the conference were Dr. Grace H. Aguiling-Dalisay, President & CEO; Ms. Kathryn Tan, Director for the Research & Development Division; and Ms. Rosario Faylona, Associate Director for Test Service Management Department. Their participation provided valuable opportunities to engage with the international assessment community, exchange knowledge, and gain insights into current developments shaping the future of testing and measurement.

Throughout the conference, discussions underscored that while artificial intelligence and digital technologies are rapidly transforming assessment, they must be guided by the enduring principles of validity, reliability, fairness, equity and ethical practice. Participants explored how emerging technologies can enhance assessment development, scoring, and test administration, while recognizing the continued importance of expert judgment in ensuring that assessment results remain meaningful, equitable, and defensible.

The conference also emphasized several key priorities for the future of assessment, including culturally responsive and inclusive test design, responsible integration of AI, strengthened digital test security, transparent communication of assessment results, and continued investment in psychometric research. Together, these themes reinforced the need for assessment systems that not only measure performance accurately but also promote equitable opportunities and support informed educational and professional decision-making.

For CEM, these global perspectives reaffirm its commitment to advancing assessment practices that are evidence-based, learner-centered, and aligned with international standards. As educational assessment continues to evolve, CEM remains dedicated to balancing innovation with scientific rigor, ensuring that its assessment programs continue to provide valid, reliable, fair, and meaningful information that benefits learners, educators, institutions, and society.
