What You Need to Take the Online NMAT

The Online NMAT is timed and supervised. Human proctors and AI-powered systems will monitor the conduct of the examinations. To take the test, you will need:

1.   Laptop or desktop computer with Windows (Windows 7 and above) Operating System. The test DOES NOT WORK ON MAC laptops, MAC desktop computers, and android or iOS mobile devices (e.g. cellphone, smartphones, digital pads, and tablets).

2.   Working webcam (either built-in or detachable). This is a STRICT requirement. NO webcam NO test. Use of mobile phones as webcams is NOT ALLOWED.

3.   Working microphone (either built-in or detachable). NO microphone NO test.

4.   For easier navigation, the use of a computer mouse is recommended.

5.   Stable internet connection with speed of at least 512 kbps. Check if you have a stable internet connection with proper speed. Observe if you are able to login using your email account without difficulty or significant lag. You can check internet speed in the following sites:



Unstable  connectivity,  and/or  hotspots  may  affect  the  loading  of  your  online test page.

Note:  CEM  will  not  be  responsible,  in  any  manner/form,  if  your  exam/answers are compromised due to poor connectivity.

6.   Up-to-date Internet Browser. The testing website supports the following browsers:




63 and above


52 and above

The CEM Online Test is not supported on Mac (Safari), or Edge browsers.

7.   Secure Exam Browser (Mettl Secure Browser or MSB). This is an application you will need to download and install on your computer to be able to take the exam securely. You will not be able to access the test without this application. This application will be available for download when you conduct the compatibility check for your computer.  

8.   The Online NMAT will no longer have a digital scratchpad. Examinees may use a small whiteboard with whiteboard pen (or other easily erasable writing materials). Use of scratch papers (paper and pen/pencil) or physical electronic scratchpad/notepad will NOT BE ALLOWED.

For your scratch work, you may use any of the following:

a.    mini whiteboard (approx. A3 or A4 size) with whiteboard marker and eraser

b.   plastic/paper magic slate

c.    clear acetate/plastic sheet with whiteboard marker and eraser

d.   plain chalkboard with chalk and eraser

Easily-erasable improvised materials can be used with your proctor’s permission. 

Note: If you will be using any of the above external materials, you will be asked to show the above materials periodically during the exam proper itself for purposes of verification. 

9.   Valid ID. You will need to present a physical format of valid ID when you log in to take the actual online test. 

10. A well-lit, well-ventilated and quiet room where you can take the test alone, free from distractions.
