Test Day Instructions (Prohibited Materials and Activities)
PROHIBITED MATERIALS
You are NOT allowed to use the following materials or have them with you during the test:
Prohibited Electronic Devices
- Smart/digital watches
- Tablets, iPad, and e-readers
- Any other electronic, recording, listening, scanning, printing or photographic devices (e.g., voice recorders, translators, cameras)
- Listening devices and media players (e.g., iPods, MP3/4 players)
- Calculators (of any kind)
- All wearable technology
- Personal digital assistants, beepers, fitness-tracking devices, electronic cigarettes/vape
Note: Phones (all kinds) must be placed inside your bag/envelope and must be powered off before the start of the test. You are not allowed to access or use their phones during the test even during their restroom break.
Prohibited Non-Electronic Devices
- Books, dictionaries, printed materials of any kind, blank sheet(s) of paper, etc.
- Ink pens or felt-tip markers
- Rulers, mechanical pencils, mechanical erasers
- Mirrors (of any kind)
- Sunglasses, earplugs, hats (hoods may not be worn on the head except religious apparel)
- Weapons, firearms, and sharp objects (can be grounds for immediate dismissal)
IMPORTANT: The items mentioned above are strictly prohibited during the exam. Anyone caught violating any of these rules will be disqualified from continuing with the test.
PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES
- Possessing and/or using of prohibited items inside the testing room or during restroom break
- Accepting or receiving anything, including food or drinks, from any person while the examination is in progress
- Loitering, talking, or discussing answers inside the room, along the corridor, or inside the restroom while the examination is in progress
- Using or having cigarettes/e-cigarettes/vape inside the testing center
- Reading aloud or whispering the test item(s)
- Taking the test booklet(s), or pages thereof, out of the testing room, as well as copying the test items in any form or manner
- Not following the Examiner’s instructions after being warned
- Causing damage to test site property
- Verbally or physically harassing or threatening any NaMMAT staff or another examinee
- Being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs
- Cheating that is depicted by, but NOT limited to, the following:
a) Looking/glancing or copying from the work of other examinees
b) Attempting to take the test for someone else or having someone else take the test for you at any stage of the examination
c) Allowing an examinee to look at or copy one’s answers
d) Collaborating/exchanging answers with one or more examinees verbally or using any manual signals or electronic device
e) Possessing prohibited examination reference materials
f) Possessing cheat sheet or any written answers on any body part (palm, hand, arm, thigh, etc.), piece of paper, glued in text/sheets of paper of academic relevance, etc.
g) Obtaining test booklet and answer keys beforehand and during the test
h) Answering the test after the time to stop has been called
IMPORTANT: Anyone caught violating any of these rules will be disqualified from continuing with the test. Further, CEM reserves the right to take all actions—including, but not limited to, banning you from future testing and/or withholding or canceling your scores—for failure to comply with test administration regulations or directions. If your scores are canceled, they will not be reported, and your registration will be forfeited.
