Decenteceo Opens IAEA 2012 Conference in Kazakhstan

As the current president of the International Association for Educational Assessment, Dr. Decenteceo welcomed delegates to the 38th IAEA annual conference held in Astana Kazakhstan held from September 16-21, 2012.  She also served as a panelist at a plenary session on "Meet the Exam Boards and Exam Developers: Issues and Answers," where she presented CEM's model of an integrated approach to testing and teacher training to improve teaching and learning based on information gathered from assessments of student achievement.

CEM test development staffers Jason Moseros and Armi Lantano attended session on item response theory, helping teachers make the most of classroom assessment, determinants of student achievement on the mother tongue language among others.  They also joined the workshop on standard setting conducted by Dr. Mary Pitoniak of the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

IAEA's annual event brings together assessment experts and practitioners from educational institutions, assessment boards and organizations in over 40 countries around the world. This year's conference theme focused on "Designing the assessment of learning outcomes to make positive impact on individuals and institutions."
