CEM forum series concludes

The Center for Educational Measurement, Inc. (CEM) marked its 36th anniversary with a series of fora held in different venues nationwide, from September to October 2014. CEM member schools and other special guests were treated to a half-day of sharing of insights, practices and experiences on utilizing test data.

 Dr. Lenore Ll. Decenteceo, CEM president, opened the program with her observations on the use of test data in schools. She emphasized the importance of data in leading schools and posed a challenge for everyone to use data in making decisions. 

The Vice President for Academic Affairs of the University of Makati, Dr. Dalisay G. Brawner, presented "Utilizing CEM's Instruments in the Senior High School Modelling Program of the University of Makati." She related how the CEM tests, Qualifying Exam for Collegiate Studies (QECS) and Panukat ng Pagkataong Pilipino (PPP), were used in the implementation of UMak's Senior High School curriculum.

Vilma B. Clerigo, former Vice Principal for Academics of San Beda College Alabang, shared the role of the CEM tests, PACT and POIS in particular, in "SBCA Career Tracking Program: Procedures, Selection and Implementation Strategies."

Questions, comments and concerns addressed during the open forum were related to senior high school of University of Makati and career tracking program of San Beda College Alabang.

Mac Baugbog, a participant from GCF International Christian School commented, "If you look at the data, it's there. It's just a matter of taking the time to look into it, analyze it and use it to bridge the gap."

The forum series were held at SMX Convention Center Taguig on September 12 and 24; University of San Carlos in Cebu on September 17; Brokenshire Hotel Resort and Convention Center in Davao on October 3; and University of Baguio on October 8.
