:: International Benchmark Tests

Assessment uplifts the quality of education

A key trend in assessment is the growing, worldwide call for accountability at the local, national, and international levels. Today, more and more schools realize the importance of using appropriate assessment tools to measure not only the academic progress of students, but also the educational standards of schools from other countries.

Outcomes-based assessment that measure and describe proficiencies are crucial in meeting the demand for accountability. Likewise, and approach to measurement that is culturally and pedagogically appropriate provides a solid basis for making important curricular and instructional decisions.

We help you take it even further

A pioneer in the field of educational assessment in the Philippines, the Center for Educational Measurement, Inc. (CEM) partnered with the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) to introduce the International Benchmark Tests (IBT) in the Philippines. We recognize your need for cost-effective, reliable, and valid assessment tools that provide diagnostic information on students’ academic

strengths and needs in the areas of English, Mathematics, and Science. Together with ACER, CEM helps create and disseminate knowledge and tools that provide feedback to inform and improve teaching and learning. More importantly, through the IBT partnership program, we enable schools to make valid and useful comparisons of your students’ performance against international benchmarks.

IBT : offering a world of opportunities

Based on the assumption that student growth is developmental, the International Benchmark Tests (IBT) assess the generic skills that underpin the teaching of English, Mathematics, and Science. Each test caters to

a range of ability levels within a class and age group. The tests enable results to be directly linked to a student’s learning in the classroom.
